It begins...

With NaNoWriMo over, what's a writer to do?

Write a new book, of course!

I'm writing a young adult science fiction novel set on a desert planet called Astrid. It is located in Earth's solar system, but the government has kept it hidden for decades.

As it's still in the early stages, I don't want to give away too much yet. It has themes of sci fi, romance, and dystopia.

Some other cool facts include a super badass race of aliens, sand dragon racing (they're like regular dragons, except they live in the desert), and a valley of angry spirits.

I'd say it's a mix between The Hunger Games, Divergent, and Dune.

#DystopianDecember, anyone?

Its name is...wait for it...

Coming of Age!

(Because the character is eighteen, and she comes of age on Astrid. But that's pretty self-explanatory, I think.)

I've had this idea mulling around my head for a while, but I've been so busy with other projects that I never had the chance to pursue it. Now that I have the time, I'm so excited!

This novel will end the year with me, and then I'll edit it in January. I'll keep you updated once I finish it. It's going to be fun!

In the meantime, I've also been querying my adult science fiction novel, GENESIS HOTEL, to promising agents. I only started yesterday, so I haven't heard anything back yet.

I also start editing my middle grade novel, THE GIFT GIVER, today. To say I'm busy is a gross understatement, but it's a good kind of busy!

Anyway, happy December and happy writing!

Sincerely,

Dana
